Mendon

Anthony J. “Tony” Abromavich Jr., age 83, of Mendon, passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by his loving family on September 15, 2025. He was born on July 12, 1942, in Du Bois, Pennsylvania, to the late Anthony Sr. and Francis (Stankavich) Abromavich. On April 4, 1964, he married the love of his life, Darlene (Reinhart) Abromavich, who survives in Mendon.

Tony is also survived by his children: Anthanette (David) Hall of Newport, North Carolina; Anthony P. (Nancy) Abromavich of Spencerville; Daniel J. Abromavich of Mendon; and Robert G. (Anessa) Abromavich of Celina. He was a proud grandfather to ten grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by two great-grandchildren, Henry and Alexis, as well as his sister, Loretta Abromavich.

A 1962 graduate of Holy Rosary High School in Erie, Pennsylvania, Tony went on to serve honorably in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War era. Following his military service, he worked in the telecommunications industry for his entire career, starting at Henkels & Mc Coy in Pennsylvania, then with General Telephone, and later retiring from Verizon in Celina.

Tony was an active member of several organizations including the Celina Eagles, Celina American Legion Post #210, the United States Patriots Motorcycle Club, and St. Teresa Catholic Church in Rockford. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, working on cars, and spending time with his family and friends. Known for his great sense of humor, Tony especially loved teasing his grandchildren and making everyone around him smile.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the Abromavich family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization that honors and supports veterans—something that was deeply important to Tony.
