Obituary

Betty L. Feliciano, age 77, of Celina, Ohio, passed away peacefully at her residence, surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, March 31, 2026.

She was born on November 20, 1948, in Celina, Ohio, to the late William and Pauline (Wade) Edwards. She was previously married to Dr. Emiliano Feliciano, who preceded her in death on December 22, 1990.

Betty is survived by her two daughters, Libby J. (Andy) Wilson of Troy, Ohio, and Jill M. (John) Griesdorn of Celina; her cherished grandchildren, Zoe, Lydia, Isaac, Josie, and Ainsley; and her first husband, Johnny J. Provci of Celina, the father of Libby and Jill.

She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Natalie Feliciano, on November 8, 2006; three brothers, Paul, Jon, and Blaine Edwards; and two half-brothers, Lowell and Otis Edwards.

Betty was a 1967 graduate of Mendon-Union High School. She continued her education at Kent State University and later earned her bachelor’s degree in Education from Ball State University. She went on to receive her master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Wright State University.

She dedicated 36 years to education at St. Henry Schools, where she spent 28 years teaching first grade and her final 8 years teaching third grade. Betty loved being a teacher and took great pride in helping generations of children learn to read. St. Henry Schools remained close to her heart throughout her life.

After retiring from teaching, Betty combined her love of travel with her entrepreneurial spirit by founding Escapades Travel Agency in Celina. Through her travels, she visited 95 foreign countries, six continents, and all 50 states.

Betty was a devoted supporter of St. Henry girls' basketball and local high school athletics. She was especially proud of the team’s recent state championship, often cheering them on with her enthusiastic “Go Redskins!”

She was a member of the University Women’s Club and was actively involved with the Grand Lake Mariners baseball team, where she served as a board member and generously housed numerous players over the years. Betty also enjoyed playing cards—especially bridge—and treasured the friendships she shared through her bridge and book clubs.

Betty lived life to the fullest and found her greatest joy in making memories with her family and friends. She especially loved baking with her grandchildren and taking them on special trips. While her immediate family was small, she was blessed with a large and loving circle of friends, including her St. Henry family, the Grand Lake Mariners, her James Drive neighborhood family, her travel companions, bridge group, and lifelong classmates. In the short three weeks following her diagnosis of pancreatic cancer, Betty was surrounded by an outpouring of love through visits, cards, and messages—a true reflection of the many lives she touched. The family is especially grateful for the compassionate and excellent care provided by the medical staff during her final weeks.

A memorial gathering will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Cisco Funeral Home in Celina.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Grand Lake Mariners, 322 Grand Lake Rd, Celina, Ohio 45822.
