Charlotte Joanne Richey, peacefully entered into the joy of her eternal home on July 19, 2026. She lived a life anchored in her love for Jesus Christ. She will be greatly missed, but her family takes great comfort in knowing she is now resting securely in the presence of her Saviour.

Charlotte was born at home in Butler Township, Mercer County, Ohio, on August 8, 1936, to Clarence and Joyce Yaney. She was raised in a home centered on faith, family, and hard work that would define her entire life. Charlotte graduated from Coldwater High School, then on September 1, 1956 married the late Horace "Bud" Richey. They raised a family of five children.

Charlotte is survived by her children and their families: Troy (Pam) Richey of Upper Sandusky, Ohio; Ross Richey of Celina, Ohio; Dawn (Keith) Newell of Forest, Ohio; Derk Richey of Pataskala, Ohio; and Risa Rowe of Bucyrus, Ohio. Her legacy lives on through them, as well as her ten grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Dennis Yaney, and her sisters, Joyce Wilson and Sharon Hut, all of Celina, Ohio. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Joyce Yaney, and her brother-in-law, George Hut. Her family finds peace in knowing they are reunited in the presence of the Lord.

As a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Charlotte poured her heart into caring for those around her, always demonstrating what it means to live a life of selfless service. She poured her love into her home, laying a firm foundation for her children from a very young age to understand the love of Jesus and His saving grace. Every day was an opportunity for her to nurture her loved ones, guide them in faith, and create a warm, Christ-centered foundation that will continue to bless them for generations to come.

Charlotte loved flowers, with irises and the color purple being her absolute favorites. In her quiet time, she enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.

Charlotte was a long-time member of Wildwood Chapel in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, where she shared God’s love by teaching children’s Sunday school for many years. She also cherished her time fellowshipping with the congregation of Beaver Chapel Congregational Church near Celina.

Charlotte also served her local communities as a school bus driver for both Celina and Upper Sandusky schools, and was actively involved with the Mercer County Fair Board in years past.

Service and Memorial Details

In accordance with Charlotte’s wishes, a private family gathering will be held to celebrate her life. There will be no public viewing or funeral services.

If desired, memorial contributions may be made in Charlotte’s memory to Wildwood Chapel in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, or to WGTN Radio in Lima, Ohio.
