Obituary

Dennis B. Wenning, age 76, of Celina, passed away peacefully at 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at his home in Celina. He was born September 27, 1949, in Celina to Ed and Agnes (Feltz) Wenning.

He is survived by his mother, Agnes Wenning of St. Marys; his children, Neil (Caryn) Wenning of Rockford, Yvonne Wenning of Findlay, and Maria Wenning of Van Wert; his life partner of many years, Brenda McGee of Celina; and his first wife and the mother of his children, Sue Wenning of Rockford.

He is also survived by his step-sons, Jim (Jane) Sweigart of Cincinnati, Jeff (Kim) Sweigart of St. Marys, and John Sweigart of Celina; siblings, Carl (Carolyn) Wenning of Normal, Illinois, Bev (Bill) Gray of Las Vegas, Nevada, Christy Triplett of Lima, and Tim Wenning of Sidney; sister-in-law, Shirley Kissler of Hendersonville, North Carolina; and brother-in-law, Jerry Dues of Celina.

Dennis was a proud grandfather to five grandchildren, Makayla (David Slagle), Jake (Becca), Lily, Cora, and Jaden; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by several step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ed Wenning; his second wife, Tana Sweigart; and his siblings, Dave Wenning, Daniel Wenning, Jan Dues, and Patricia Wenning.

Dennis proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam era. He worked at Huffy’s in Celina for many years and later retired from Goodyear in St. Marys after several years of service.

He was a member of the Celina Eagles and a life member of the Celina VFW. Dennis enjoyed golfing, especially loved taking vacations, and also enjoyed watching the Buckeyes while spending time with family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Cisco Funeral Home in Celina.

A funeral liturgy will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026, at the funeral home, with Deacon Charlie Salway officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

Interment will follow at Mercer Memory Gardens in Celina, with Randy Christian officiating the graveside service. Military honors will be provided by Celina VFW Post #5713 and Celina American Legion Post #210.
