Obituary

Estella Nusbaum, age 94, of Celina, Ohio, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, July 13, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.

She was born on May 20, 1932, in Hancock County, Ohio, to the late R.T. Beck and Josephine (Wilkinson) Beck. On September 8, 1956, she married the love of her life, Francis Nusbaum, who survives in Celina. They shared nearly 70 wonderful years of marriage and would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this September.

Estella is survived by her loving husband, Francis; her children, Annette Vernon of Dublin, Ohio, and Carlton Nusbaum of Celina, Ohio; her brother, Roy (Mary Ellen) Beck of Maryland; five grandchildren, CJ, Dustin, Christopher, Alec, and Austin; seven great-grandchildren, Caleb, Taylor, Alyvia, Denver, Deacon, Dax, and Deliah; a special niece, Aleta; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Kenneth Beck, George Grogan, and Paul Beck; and her sisters, Marie Geyman, Anna Belle Stotler, and Betty Booth.

Estella was a 1950 graduate of Liberty-Benton High School. Following graduation, she pursued her passion for caring for others by attending St. Luke's School of Nursing in Toledo, where she earned her nursing education.

A compassionate and dedicated registered nurse, Estella devoted her life to serving others. She began her nursing career at Gibbons Hospital in Celina before working alongside Dr. Bradrick in his private medical practice. She later retired from the Mercer County Health Department after many years of faithful service to her community.

Her faith was an important part of her life. Estella was a devoted member of St. John Lutheran Church in Celina. She was also an active member of the Altrurian Club and the Red Hat Society. She found great joy in spending time with her family, hosting gatherings, attending church, reading, visiting the library, and caring for others through her nursing career. Her kindness, compassion, and servant's heart touched countless lives and will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at St. John Lutheran Church in Celina, with Dale Shaffer officiating. Family and friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Burial will follow at North Grove Cemetery in Celina.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John Lutheran Church.
