Fay Jones, age 93, of Celina, Ohio, passed away peacefully at 4:45 a.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, under the compassionate care of Grand Lake Hospice.
She was born on June 17, 1932, in Shelby County to the late Louis and Emma (Bulcher) Layman. On June 28, 1952, she married the love of her life, Harley C. Jones, and together they shared many years of devotion and partnership.
Fay is survived by her children, Linda (Richard) Haines of St. Marys and Steven (Rebecca) Jones of Celina. She was a proud grandmother to Rick Haines, Lauren (Brian) Smith, Angela (Geoff) Lee, Brian (Jill) Jones, and Kristina (Bo) Frye, and a cherished great-grandmother to Owen and Deacon Lee; Hudson and Griffin Smith; Caroline and Avery Jones; and Lenna and Faye Frye. She is also survived by her sister, Ruth (Jerry) Malueg.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Lynn Jones, who died in infancy; five brothers, Francis, James, Virgil, John, and Lawrence Layman; and four sisters, Alma (Howard) Herriman, Barbara (Jack) Fahnestock, Mary (John) Bowser, and Rozella (James) Swiger.
Fay graduated from Sidney High School in 1950 and began her career as an executive secretary. In 1967, she and Harley purchased Jones Jeweler in Celina, which they proudly owned and operated until their retirement in 2009. Through their business, Fay built many lasting friendships within the community.
She was a past president of the Iota Gamma chapter of the Phi Beta Psi Sorority and a faithful member of Grand Lake United Methodist Church.
Fay will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest joy was time spent with her family. Their laughter filled her heart, and their presence was her greatest blessing.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Cisco Funeral Home in Celina, with Rev. Mick Whistler officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Visitation will also be held on Friday, February 27, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Graveside services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Graceland Cemetery in Sidney.
