Fredric J. “Rick” Hagen, age 73, of Celina, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
He was born on August 3, 1952, in Celina to the late John F. and Carol J. (Baumberger) Hagen. On October 12, 1974, he married the love of his life, Eunice E. (Allen) Hagen, who survives at their home in Celina.
Rick is also survived by his children, Laura (Marvin “Jay”) Zizelman of Celina, Greg (Amber) Hagen of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Tim (Lorren) Hagen of Bluffton, Ohio; sixteen grandchildren, Naomi (Tylor), Nashia (Dalton), Camden (Carly), Natalie, Caleb, Crew, Noah, John, Sam, David, Esther, Andrew, Ellie, Evelyn, Georgia, and Eden; seven great-grandchildren, Raelyn, Lennon, Aspen, Wesson, Gracelynn, Colson, and Josalynn; his siblings, Mary Beth (Ron) Clark of La Fontaine, Indiana, Carolyn (Chuck) Heindel of Garner, North Carolina, Jeff (Debrah) Hagen of Panama City, Florida, and Karl (Barbara) Hagen of Dublin, Ohio; and sister-in-law, Susie Hagen of Hudsonville, Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Chris Hagen.
Rick was a 1971 graduate of Celina High School. Following high school, he attended Owens Technical College in Toledo, where he earned his degree in criminal justice. He went on to serve his community as a deputy sheriff with the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office for 28 years before retiring in 2001. After retirement, Rick continued working, serving as a courier for First Financial Bank in Celina and later as a bus driver for St. Henry Schools.
He was a faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church in Celina. Rick enjoyed many hobbies and adventures throughout his life, including sailing, visiting lighthouses, photography, target shooting, geocaching, and building rockets. He especially cherished spending time with his family, attending his grandchildren’s activities, relaxing by the lake, and taking golf cart rides with those he loved.
Rick will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, and a man who found joy in life’s simple moments. His kindness, curiosity, and love for his family will continue to live on through the many lives he touched.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, July 13, 2026, at Cisco Funeral Home in Celina.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at St. John Lutheran Church in Celina, with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will follow at North Grove Cemetery in Celina.
