Jack L. Monroe, age 96, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2026, at 10:12 a.m. at StoryPoint Tipp City Assisted Living with his family by his side. He was born on March 21, 1930, to the late Dallas and Laura Monroe.
On April 13, 1957, he married the love of his life, Carol (Goetz) Monroe. Together they shared 69 years of marriage, and she survives in Tipp City.
Jack is also survived by his daughter, Teresa Monroe of Troy; along with many beloved nieces and nephews and grand-dogs.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter and son-in-law, Kim (Nathan) Pennington; sister, Kathryn Lannerd, and brother-in-law, Howard Lannerd.
Jack was a 1948 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Ohio University in Athens in 1958. He dedicated much of his professional life to the field of electrical engineering, beginning his career as an Electrical Engineer with Goodyear in St. Marys. He later worked for two years as an Electrical Engineer with Goodyear Aerospace in Akron and five years with Goodyear Aerospace in California. Jack concluded his career with NCR in Dayton, where he worked as an Electrical Engineer for 25 years before retiring in 1991.
Jack was a proud member of the 704 Masonic Lodge in Tipp City, the American Legion in Tipp City, and the Dayton Woodworking Club, where he remained active for more than 20 years.
A talented craftsman, Jack found great satisfaction in woodworking and spent countless hours in his workshop creating beautiful pieces for family and friends. He also enjoyed traveling with Carol throughout the years, making memories and exploring new places together. Above all, Jack cherished time spent with his family. Whether sharing stories, celebrating holidays, or simply enjoying one another's company, he treasured every opportunity to be surrounded by those he loved. His quiet strength, kindness, and devotion to his family will be remembered by all who knew him.
Private visitation and funeral services will be held for family.
Interment will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys, followed by military rites.
Memorial contributions may be made in Jack's memory to Alzheimer's Association
