Joan A. Burnett, age 82, of Mendon, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Divine Nursing and Rehab at Shane Hill in Rockford.

She was born on July 4, 1943, in Alger, Ohio, to the late Marion and Charlotte (Stanley) Gross Sr. On May 3, 1964, she married the love of her life, Myron “Mike” Burnett, who survives in Mendon.

Joan was preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Hall and her beloved twin, Jean Frazier; her in-laws, Forrest and Mary Burnett; sisters-in-law, Jane Gross and Connie Gross; and brother-in-law, Ned Hall.

She is survived by her two brothers, Marion Gross Jr. of Cridersville, and Jim (Pat) Gross of Alger; her brother-in-law, Jim Burnett of Mendon; sister-in-law, Mary Frances Rickard of Mendon; and many nieces and nephews who lovingly called her “Mom” and cherished her deeply.

A 1961 graduate of Alger High School, Joan went on to work at Ohio Decorative Products in Spencerville. She was also a devoted homemaker whose true joy was found in caring for others. Joan was well known for her incredible talents in arts and crafts, and especially for her legendary homemade bread—lovingly shared with friends and family each Christmas season.

A passionate animal lover, Joan never turned away a stray in need. She was a proud member of the Grand Lake Motorcycle Club and the Mendon Craft Club. Though she was a twin, those who knew her best always said Joan was truly one of a kind.

Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at Mendon Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joan’s honor to the Auglaize County Humane Society, 616 N. Dixie Hwy, Wapakoneta, OH 45895.
