John D. Hileman

John D. Hileman, of Celina, peacefully passed away at the age of 81, on June 6, 2026, at his residence, with his family by his side, at 4:02 pm. John was born on March 9, 1945, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to the late Dale and Mary Ellen (Kuhn) Hileman.

On February 10, 1968, John married the love of his life, Myra (Schwieterman) Hileman; sharing more than 58 years of marriage together, and she survives at their residence in Celina.

Together, John and Myra have three loving children, Annette (GJ) Stuller of Curtice, Ohio, Marlene (Brian) Steele of St. Marys, Ohio, and Keith (Michelle) Hileman of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

John adored his nine grandchildren, Courtney (Matthew) Gabringer, Dustin Steele, Dan Stuller, Rachel Stuller, Katherine Hileman, Michael Hileman, Nicholas Hileman, Julia Hileman, and Lauren Hileman; and his one great-grandchild, Chloe Gabringer.

John is also survived by his brothers, Charles (Jane) Hileman of Celina and Mike (Susie) Hileman of Versailles, and his sister-in-law, Jean Hileman of Celina.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Richard Hileman and James Hileman.

John graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in 1964. Throughout his life, he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to providing for his family. He began his career with Texaco-Marathon and later retired from Crown Equipment Corporation after many years of employment. John continued working following retirement as an auto transporter for Kerns Chevrolet, a position he thoroughly enjoyed because it allowed him to stay active and meet new people.

Above all else, John cherished the time he spent with his family. He rarely missed an opportunity to attend his grandchildren’s sporting events, dance recitals, school activities, and special occasions, taking great pride in their accomplishments. He especially enjoyed playing checkers with his grandchildren, creating memories that they will treasure for years to come. A devoted Cleveland Browns fan, John could often be found cheering on his team each fall and following NASCAR throughout the racing season. He took exceptional pride in maintaining a beautiful lawn, which perfectly complemented Myra’s love and talent for gardening. Together, they created a home that reflected their care and dedication. John also enjoyed reading, bowling, playing cards, working Sudoku puzzles, and keeping his mind sharp. A man of faith and service, he was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina, a proud donor to the American Red Cross, with more than thirteen gallons of blood donated throughout his lifetime, and a member of the National Guard. John will be remembered for his quiet strength, generosity, and unwavering devotion to his faith and family.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Cisco Funeral Homes in Celina.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Immaculate Conception Church in Celina, with Fr. John Tonkin officiating. Friends may also call at Cisco Funeral Homes on Thursday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. prior to the Mass.

Interment will follow the Mass at St. Marys Catholic Cemetery in Celina.
