Obituary

Joyce S. Nichols age 88, of Celina passed away on August 2, 2026, of complications resulting of Alzheimer's at Briarwood Village, in Coldwater, OH.

She was born on December 15, 1937, in Somerset, Ohio, to the late Russell W. and Louise H. Snider.

Joyce is survived by her husband John Nicols II in Tuscon, AZ, her son Michael (Leslie Stuart) Lilie of Altamont, NY and her sister Doris Marbough in Coldwater, OH. She also leaves behind her two grandchildren, Erin Lilie-Fisher and Russell Lilie, plus many nieces, nephews and friends spread all over the country.

She was preceded in death by her father, Russell Snider; her mother, Louise Snider; and by her siblings Annabelle Dowdy, Russell Snider Jr., Helen Fetters, Phyllis Dupler, Lois Snider, Carl Snider, and Dean Snider.

Joyce graduated from Celina High School, class of 1955. Throughout her life, she worked in a variety of occupations before retiring. She had a great love of travel which took her to numerous European countries, Africa, China, Japan, Australia, Tahiti, the Caribbean Islands, Canadian Rockies, Nova Scotia, and Costa Rica, as well as almost every state in the United States. In addition to travel, Joyce enjoyed dressage, golf, reading, hiking, puzzling, and pinochle.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026, at 11:00 am, at the Zion Ridge Cemetery, Thornville, OH.

Following the services at the cemetery, family and friends are invited to celebrate Joyce's life at Clay Haus Restaurant, 123 W. Main Street, Somerset, OH.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that Memorial contributions may be made in Joyce’s name to the Alzheimer’s foundation.
