Katerine Stephany Spencer

Katerine Stephany Spencer, 25, died unexpectedly in her sleep on the morning of July 19th. She is survived by her parents, Michael & Barbara Spencer, of Newark, Ohio, and by her siblings Aubrie (Seth) Drayer, Marisa (David) Gross, Summer Spencer, Ian (Breanna) Spencer, and by her 10 nieces and nephews. Katerine was born on January 21st, 2000, in Guatemala City, Guatemala.

Katerine was abandoned by her biological father when she was six but was loved very much by her biological mother whose health and financial situation prevented her from being able to parent her. Katerine spent 3 years in an orphanage and was placed for adoption at six years of age. She was adopted by our family in 2009.

Katerine was born with Cerebral Palsy and suffered from epilepsy, which had severely arrested her mental and physical health but never diminished her joy. She had a smile that lit up the room. She was very social and had a special affection for children and babies, both born and preborn. She had a tender heart toward all. Katerine graduated from Coldwater High School in 2019 and enjoyed working at We Can Too in Saint Mary’s, a workshop for those with developmental disabilities, from June 2019 through November of 2023. She enjoyed her friends and the staff at Echoing Hills, where she lived from November of 2023 until her passing. She especially loved her Aletheia Christian Church family.

Despite Katerine’s limitations and the fact that she had no wealth and enjoyed no prestige or impressive title, she was one of Christ’s cherished ones and is now in His presence, whole and free from her suffering. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be on Friday, July 25, from 10 am – 1 pm, with a celebration of life immediately following at 1:00 pm at Aletheia Christian Church, 7216 Fleetfoot Rd., Celina, OH, 45822.  Burial will follow at North Grove Cemetery in Celina.
