Marie Schroyer, 89, of Celina, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Hearth & Home at Van Wert.
She was born on October 27, 1936, in Mercer County, Ohio, to the late Edward and Catherine (Wendel) Homan. On May 14, 1957, she married the love of her life, George Junior Schroyer, who preceded her in death on March 9, 2008.
Marie is lovingly survived by her three sons, Dave (Toni) Schroyer of Celina, Mark (Deb) Schroyer of Coldwater, and Craig (Pam) Schroyer of Mendon; her three daughters, Cindy (Tom) Schatzer of Rockford, Lisa (Roger) Craft of Covington, Ohio, and Tonya (Kenton) Merrick of Paddock Lake, Wisconsin; two brothers, Lavern Homan of Coldwater and Dan (Linda) Homan of Ohio City; two sisters, Lucille Barna of Rockford and Margie Gentry of Celina; 12 grandchildren, Marcus, Jason, Jennifer, Brian, Jamie, Angie, Bryan, Drew, Adam, Ryan, Zach, and Luke; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends; and sisters-in-law, Donna Homan of Coldwater, Barb Homan of Florida, Jane Boeckman of Coldwater, and Judy Homan of Fort Recovery
In addition to her husband and parents, Marie was preceded in death by her brothers, Wilbur (Mary Ann) Homan, Tony Homan, Ott (Rita) Homan, Ernie (Jeanette) Homan, Leon Homan, and Ralph Homan; her sister-in-law, Mary Homan; her brothers-in-law, Ron Barna and Ted Gentry; and her brother-in-law, Paul Nininger, and sister-in-law, Rosalie Nininger.
Marie was a dedicated bookkeeper for Schroyer Trucking, the family business that she and George proudly owned and operated for many years. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker who found her greatest joy in raising her six children and caring for her family.
She was a faithful member of St. Teresa Catholic Church in Rockford, where she was involved in the Women's Group. Marie also enjoyed her membership in the American Truck Historical Society of Kansas City, Missouri. Her faith, strong work ethic, and unwavering love for her family will be remembered by all who knew her.
Family and friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Cisco Funeral Homes in Celina.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2026, at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Rockford with Rev. Barry Stechschulte officiating. The family will also receive friends from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Monday morning at the funeral home before processing to the church. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Rockford.
