Mary Jo “Jo” Wilson, age 83, of Celina, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2026, at Otterbein Retirement Community in St. Marys, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on May 21, 1943, in Celina, to the late Kenny and Betty (Piper) Shaw. On October 29, 1965, Jo married Loran Wilson, and together they shared more than 60 years of marriage. He survives at their residence in Celina.
Jo is also survived by her daughter, Stacy (John) Strong of Cincinnati; her son, Kevin (Amy) Wilson of Celina; her grandchildren, Jordan (Kylie) Wilson and Brenna Wilson, all of Celina; her great-grandchildren, Grayson, Elliott, and Raelynn; a brother, Phil Piper of Florida; and a sister-in-law, Mary Piper of Gaylord, Michigan.
In addition to her parents, Jo was preceded in death by her brother, Dennis Piper, and sister-in-law, Connie Piper.
Jo was a 1961 graduate of Celina High School. She worked for many years at GTE in Celina and later continued her career with the Celina-Mercer County Chamber of Commerce, where she retired in 2003.
Above all, Jo treasured her family and especially cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed quilting, a pastime that brought her many hours of enjoyment throughout the years.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Cisco Funeral Home in Celina on Friday, October 2, 2026, at 3:00 p.m., with Rev. Matt Overman officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the start of the service at 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Otterbein Universal Hospice, 921 Rush Avenue, Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311, or donations may be made through the Otterbein website.
