Norma Jean McMurray

Norma Jean McMurray, age 92, of St. Marys, passed away peacefully at her residence on January 23, 2025. She was born on April 26, 1932, in Ligon, Kentucky, to the late Paul and Vela (McCown) Horn. On September 3, 1980, Norma married Roy A. McMurray, who preceded her in death on October 16, 2011.

Norma is survived by her two sons, Gene (Grechen) Turner and Joe Douglas (Faye) Turner, both of St. Marys, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Ted Turner; her daughter and son-in-law, Lana and Edward Deaton; two sisters, Jewell Haskell and Marcela Stumbo; and a brother, Ted Horn.

She retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber after many years of dedicated service. A member of Hilldale Baptist Church in St. Marys, Norma was known for her easygoing nature and gentle spirit. She cherished spending time with her family and friends and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Honoring her wishes, private services will be held at the convenience of the McMurray family, and she will be laid to rest at Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.
