Wilma M. Houts, 97, of Celina, Ohio passed away on September 6, 2023, at Sunrise Senior Living in Dublin, Ohio. She was born December 2, 1925, in Mercer County to the late, Raymond and Ocie (Wurster) Smith. On October 11, 1947, she married C. Calvin Houts and he preceded her in death on November 30, 2009.
Survivors include a son, David (Judy) Houts, Wentzville, Missouri; two daughters, Cheryl (Mike) Worley, Dublin, Ohio and Brenda (David) McPheron, Kenton, Ohio; six grandchildren, Mark (Holly) Worley, Ann (Sal) Garcia, Jenna (Aaron) Woodside, Ben (Mallory) McPheron, Julie (Gabe) Houts-Gronli and Amy (Tobey) Steinman; and six great grandchildren, with two on the way.
She is also preceded in death by a sister, Naomi Counterman; and a brother, Ronald Smith.
Wilma was a 1944 graduate of Neptune High School in Neptune, Ohio. She was a homemaker and long-time employee of Celina City Schools as a cafeteria worker.
She was a longtime member of Celina Bethany Church, where she served as Sunday School teacher, VBS director and leader of the kitchen and care ministry. She also served as a 4-H advisor for the Neptune Loyal Workers for many years. She had a servant’s heart and spent her life caring for ailing family members, as well as her own family. She loved the Lord with all her heart and served him faithfully throughout her entire life.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at Cisco Funeral Home in Celina with the Rev. Josh Tissot officiating; where the family will receive friends from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at North Grove Cemetery in Celina.
